Walking your Dog - Good For Owner and Dog

I'm sure walking has many health benefits, and walking your dog is something I recommend with almost all families. But walks are most beneficial for dogs when they are structured and allow for teaching. Here are some of the benefits of structured walks:
- They're a great way to build communication and enhance your mutual relationship.
- They provide controlled exercise for young and large dogs reducing chances of orthopedic injuries.
- They motivate dogs while helping them learn their role in the family dynamic.
- Controlling the walk speed and direction can help a dog develop better mental focus and calming.
Structured walks are not going out and letting your dog drag you around the block. Structured walks are the owner's walk with the dog following calmly. If taking your dog for a walk is less than enjoyable, perhaps it's time to contact a trainer for some help. When everyone walks, everyone wins!
